Is Canada what everyone thinks it is?

In school we are learning about Canada and it's political and economical status...And from what I gathered from the whole lesson is ...most countries highest powers think That Canada relys on the U.S to much.

In some cases I do lean more toward that theory of why we are a pretty well of country.

My question is ...do you think that if we were to withdrawal from being in an alliance with America, we could easily fall into the position of being a third world country?

To be or not to be

I was watching The View on tv and a story about a lesbian couple..that wanted to have a baby was on. So they got a sperm doner who was deaf, this is because they are deaf. They say that they would like their child to be born deaf because they are...and because it is in their culture.

This in my opinion is wrong beyong words. I have no problem with their culture as human beings they should be able to choose what they want. The only thing is that is what they want...a child can not chose whether they want to be deaf or not. I think the parents are being ignorent...Not letting a child be born..with one function...when they can be...is robbing them.

I know that there are many deaf communities, but I still disagree with this couples desision...they are robbing this child.

What do you all think?

Racism

Is racism like polution no matter what u do it's always there?

When Wayne A. Elliott was transferred in 1996 from a factory job to a warehouse at Lockheed Martin Corp.'s sprawling military-aircraft production facilities in Marietta, Ga

he experienced taunting, threats and what not some examples are :

-Anti-black graffiti was scrawled on the restroom walls

-His new white colleagues harassed him, Elliott recalls, as did his manager, who would yell at him, call him "boy," and
tell him to "kiss my butt."

-One day, he and the other two black men among the 30 warehouse workers found "back-to-Africa tickets" on their desks

-"Just sprinkle this dingy black dust on any sidewalk and piss on it, and, presto! hundreds of n-----s spring up!"

-Then, one day in 1999, according to Elliott, a hangman's noose appeared near his desk. "You're going to end up with your head in here," Elliott recalls a white co-worker threatening.

Lockheed spokesman Sam Grizzle says the company won't comment on any specific employee. But regarding the suits, which Lockheed is fighting, he says, "we do not tolerate, nor have we ever tolerated, harassment or discrimination of any form. We take such complaints very seriously, and we always have investigated them and taken appropriate action when needed."

The alleged incidents at Lockheed are part of an extensive pattern of charges of racial hatred in U.S. workplaces that BusinessWeek investigated over a two-month period.

My question is if stuff like this still goes on....why does anyone really bother?
I mean have seen martin luther king, harriet tubman all these great people that have suffered for this world...hoping to defeat this world wide problem.
People have died at the hands of racism and still some jackasses go all out to keeps this living nightmare alive.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

seems like its gonna stay a dream....and it's far from becoming a reality
